Though worship is the source and pinnacle of our Church life, our fellowship with one another extends beyond the boundaries of our Church services.
Here are some of the other ways in which we meet with one another, pray together, and learn more about our faith.
Monday Morning Coffee
Coffee, tea, cakes and scones are available in Church every Monday morning during the summer months to coincide with the town’s weekly market. This is a great way to catch up with friends, new and old, over a warm scone or delicious cake, and all for a very reasonable price!
The Pickering Branch of the Mothers’ Union meets each month (often on the fourth Thursday) to hear speakers, visit places of interest, and take part in services. Although busy locally, members of the Mothers’ Union are also mindful of the fact that they are part of an organization of four million women and men in eighty-three countries, showing Christian concern for families, and working with people of all faiths and none. Members in Pickering play their own small part in supporting this work by their prayers and financially. For more information about joining the Pickering branch of the Mothers’ Union, contact Hazel Page on 01751 476915.
The aim of the Men’s Society is to provide Christian fellowship following a programme which is social, instructive, challenging and worshipful. Meetings are normally held on the third Monday of each month beginning at 7:30 p.m. An interesting programme includes various speakers from all walks of life, including local businesses and national and local charities, and visits to local attractions, including historic and archaeological sites. Each evening usually ends with some refreshment, often in a local pub. For more information about joining the Men’s Society or upcoming events, please contact Brian Stockley on 01751 471479.
Fundraising and Social Committee
Members of the Fundraising and Social Committee organise several gatherings during the year, and provide refreshments for special services and events, to which all are welcome. For more information on these events, watch out for notices on the weekly pew sheet.
